36 “I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me.’ 37 Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when was it that we saw you hungry and gave you food, or thirsty and gave you something to drink? 38 And when was it that we saw you a stranger and welcomed you, or naked and gave you clothing? 39 And when was it that we saw you sick or in prison and visited you?’ 40 And the king will answer them, ‘Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me.’”
-Matthew 25:36-40, NRSV
The Fr. Carrigan Division is honored to participate in an inspiring initiative rooted in our core tenet of Christian Charity: the Pink Bibles project. In a meaningful partnership with Leanor Ortega Till from the renowned Colorado band Five Iron Frenzy, our Division is stepping forward to support her vital, hands-on ministry to incarcerated women. In many correctional facilities, women facing the isolating realities of prison are permitted to keep only a few personal possessions in their cells. Time and again, their request is profoundly simple yet incredibly powerful: they ask Leanor for a small, pink Bible to be among those cherished items.
Through the Pink Bibles project, we are working directly with Leanor to put Scripture into these women’s hands, bringing the message of Christ’s love and redemption straight to their hearts. For someone serving time, this particular possession is far more than a book; it is a lifeline that offers comfort, builds spiritual resilience, and provides a foundation for emotional and personal transformation as they look toward the future. By providing these specialized Bibles, we aim to remind these women that they are not forgotten, that they possess inherent worth, and that a path forward is always possible.
